missing jazz,jazzy, jasmine (again)

I miss my baby so much!!! i am in chicago and i have been her for 2 and a half days. the only reason I Have not been calling every 10 minutes to talk to the puppy is because I have been surrouned by dogs! I have been staying at my uncles house and they have a dog. He is so sweet! He is such a is fur ball! But they left today to go to their home out in Michigan. No dogs anymore. They took the dog with them. :(. But, my grandma has an 11 year old dog who has the energy of a 5 mnth old puppy!! I have seen her a few times as well and will see her more times this trip. last ut not least, i went with my grandma to work. She works at a animal vet/shelter. I saw dogs, but play with any. I played with 3 little kittens. They were adorable! But, none of them can replace my jazz. I could be in a room filled with a 1,000 puppies and still miss jazzy.
I have been talking to my mom still at home (since it is just my dad and I here) and jazzy seems to be doing fine without me. (Shocker I know. how can she be happy without me?!?! :) I was sent a picture of the baby having her first bath! she will be clean for my return! Yay! No more smelly puppy! Wohoo!!! Who KNOWS when her last bath was! not since we adopted her in July thats for sure!!!
Anyway, I can not wait to see her on thursday!! I MISS YOU JAZZY!!!!

Jazzys many friends!

Jazzy and her buddie Kaya love to run around and play when they see each other! Jazzy loves playing with a dog her size!

Skate on the other hand.... is not her size. Actually he is about a quarter of her size! But those to dogs can and do play like they have not seen each other fors years! Jazzy runs around staying low to the ground and lets skate jump and punce in her. I sometimes think she knows who the bigger dog is...... I wish we could get the two of them together more, because i have never seen two dogs play the way those to do! Its one of the cutest things in the world!

Jazzy the duck

This is our Jazz. Jazzy the duck. You would think any normal dog would hate a coustum, but we did not adopt a normal dog. We adopted an attention craving puppy. And a black puppy in a duck chearleaders uniform is sure to get attention! She loved it! People would walk by us and tell us Jazzy looked so cute! After all, a puppy in a duck uniform is pretty darn cute!

The many Names of Jazz

Her name is Jasmine. But like any other person, she is not always called Jasmine......
The many names of Jazzy......

1. Jazzymundo
2. Jazzy girl
3. Jazz

6. Bowser (bernardo and dad)
7. Dog (when in trouble)

Ohhh Jazz......

Jazzy is not like most puppies. For example I have never really heard her bark. Only whines and wimmpers. But she certinaly has her likes and dislikes....

Likes:
- Ice Cubes.
- Other Dogs.
- Her mommy (my mom).
- Anything that can be chewed and shreded into a million peices.
- Belly rubs.
- Thinking she is a lap puppy.
- To believe she can still fit in small spaces.
- Holding her leash in her mouth while we walk.
- Pine cones.
- Socks.
- And brightly colored toys (prefers brightly colored baby toys)
- Trying to eat rain and gutter water run-off.
- New people.
- And her family (ME!)

But she is not all flowers and daisies. She has many fobias and dislikes for sure.....

Dislikes:
-Cars comming up from behind her.
-Barking dogs.
- Getting wet (swimming, hoses, ect.)
- When people won't play with her or rub her belly.
- Finding out she is to large to fit in small places.
- Unknown sounds.
- School Busses.
- Being yelled at (but who likes that?!)
- Not being aloud to eat people food.
- Not being fed on time.
- And ridding in the car.......
Ridding in the car is not always a jazzy dislike, but it is for us. When she is in the car, she drools like a mad puppy! I have never seen anything like it before! Jazz is my first dog, so when we first brought her home, in the car I was not sure what to expect. But what she did was definitly not something I would have thought about. She looks like we doused her with a hose by the time we arrived at our destination! She stays calm and looks just fine the whole car ride, other than the steady stream of drool comming out the corners of her mouth. We have learned to always keep towl handy and a blanket underneath her!
If you have met Jazzy, and you think I am leaving any characteristics out, please let me know! though it would be very sad if someone other than me could figure that out! Please leave a comment! I love to read them! I love to know when people have read my blog! Thank you! Meredith

Missing Jazz Jazzy Jasmine

The first week in August my family and I have taken a trip up to our beach house in Port Townsend, Washington. It was also our first trip away from baby Jazzy. We did not bord her, thanks to many people who wanted to and were willing to watch Jazz. My grandmother ended up winning out over all, though.
We have talked to them a few times and all seems to be going well. Jazz has piddled on the carpet 3 times already. So much for being potty trained! My grandmother told us that she and the cat get along great! And the funniest part? Don't bother with the dog toys, Jazz is in love with the swinging cat toy!
But, at least we are going home tomorrow! Hye Min is leaving today and I think the hardest departure for her is the departure with Jazzy. But I think she will see her soon!

New Photos!!!!

Jazzy, Hye Min and I pose for a pic with Jazz.
Jazzy when Standing, is up to my knee! Even though she is going to be a horse, we love her!

Typical Jazzy. Seconds after she is given food, it is no longer there. And her typical puppy "I want more food" look!

Sick Baby!

When people tell you how much work a dog is, you say I know, but you really don't know. You also are never warned about how much you will love them. Everyone kept telling us how much work a dog is. But why didn't I beileve them? I wanted to think it was easy. And the first few nights, it was fine. Yeah, so maybe getting up at 6:30 was not to hot, but I loved her so much it did not matter. The next few days were the same. But on Monday the 19th, we took Jazzy in for her first vet appointment. We had to bring in a poop sample to make sure that she did not have worms or anything. The vet looked at her poop and said because it was runny she probably had a worm. So we got medicine for her and said that was that. Ha. Yeah right.....
The vet called yesterday while Jazzy was playing out on the deck. He talked to my dad for a while before finally getting off the phone. My dad looked at us and in a solenm voice and told us that Jazzy has Giardia. If you do not know what that is, it is a sickness that is a sickness that people and animals get from drinking out of a stream that looks clean, but animal poop has gotten into. It is a stomach bug, so it causes the runs, and throwing up. The worst part is even comming from a dog, it is contageous. As my dad told us this, I looked at my baby, playing out on the deck. "I am suprised that she has not thrown up yet" my dad told us. Then, as if on cue, Jazzy decided to throw up all her food. My poor baby!
My problem? I am a total germ fanatic! My worst fear is that I am going to get Giardia. Or worse, my family is going to get Giardai. I am reluctant to play with her as much, fear of the germs. After Jazzy threw up, I put her in her crate. I did not reach my hand in to pet her like normal, and a wave of guilt hit me. Her sweet puppy face, I could tell that she was thinking "Just because I am sick you don't love me? I want a pet.' Her face made me want to cry. I love her so much, but at the same time, Giardia is my worse fear.
The doctor gave Jazzy a perscription to make her better. She has to take a pill a day for three days, then to weeks later do the same thing and she will be better. My poor baby! I hate to see her so uncomfortable. Well, I can't actually SEE it, but by her calm, melow, un-puppy like ways, you can tell she is not well. I can not wait until she is better!

Pokes, Pinches, and Glass Doors.

Like every 4 month old pup, Jazzy has had her fair share of pokes and pinches. Glass doors, can not fit into either catogory. How could a glass door have anything to do with pokes and pinches? It doesn't. But I am almost positive Jazz now is not fond of the glass door....
After being let out in the backyard to burn of excess energy for a period of time, we let her back in to the house. She bolted inside, eagar to see the family. She jumped and sniffed and turned around to head back outside. Little did she know that we had closed the glass sliding door. The windows had just been wipped down, so the were hard for an eagar puppy to see. Jazzy turned around and ran, full speed ahead into the door. So much for burrning of energy. Jazzy bounced back, seeming unfazed. She looked up at us with her big puppy eyes. All we could do was laugh at her. Oh well. Glass door, meet Jazzy. I would not be suprised if you two met again....
Not all puppy injuries are the after effect of a release of energy. We were walking Jazzy around on the front lawn, trying to get her to go. She walked around the yard at least 20 times trying to find a spot to go. No luck. After she finally gave up and flopped down on the grass, her curious puppy senses took over. Our yard is nothing short of weed flowers, meaning never short of bees. Jazzy's eyes followed a bee and watched it land on a flower, right in front of her nose. She stood up and sniffed the bee. She proceeded to nudge it with her paw and nose. When she gave up and realized the bee was not anything she could chew on, she gave up and walked away. Unfortunately, the bee still found interest in the flower. walking away, Jazzy trommpled right over the flower, steping on the bee. Jazzy cried and wimpered, reassuring us it hurt. My mom called me out to get her ice. That did not work. So I filled a plastic container and dropped a couple ice cubes in and rushed out to bring it to Jazz. I could oly keep her paw in there for about 5 seconds. It was obvious she thought she should be drinking the water, not sticking her paws in it. She limped around and continued to bite her foot for a while. We put her in her crate to let her rest while we were out.
Both injuries were quickly recovered from. Jazzy's paw is just fine and the window run in never effected her in the least. I could go on for hours, talking about various things Jazzy probably wished she had never gotten into. I hope Jazz continues to be overly curios. What would a puppy be without puppy curiosity?

Jazzy Baby

Whats black and white and cute all over? Jasmine! Or better known as Jazzy. Jazzy is one of the best things that has happened to our house hold since microwave Mac&Cheese. She is sweet calm, and so well behaved! As one of my moms friends said about their dog, "If there was a dog coustom made for us, she would be the one!" And it is so true! Like all puppies, though, she will need to be taught basic training. Jazzy has already mastered the art of sit and lay down. We are still working on potty training, but she is incredibly smart, so that will not be much of a problem.
Jazzy has so many uncommon puppy qualities. For example, she has never barked at the door. Never. Not even once. And for that matter, I have only heard her bark twice. And that was when she was getting used to her crate. Now, she does not even bark a bit. Jazzy also can be quite lazy. Not that all dogs aren't to some degree, but Jazzy, you have to force her to get up, and then you see the puppy come out of her. She chases any toy you throw for her. But to be exact, it dose not have to be a toy for her to retrieve it!
Jazzy is the reason I look forward to getting up in the morrning. Even if it is 6:30 to take her out to potty. Her sweet, brown eyes waiting for me at the bottom of the stairs. I could not have asked for a more perfect puppy!

A few pictures from her first day!

New Blog

I am writting this blog on my puppy Jasmine (Jazzy), because keeping a constant journal is hard. I wanted to do something like this on an actuall doggy blog website, but it did not work. :( So, I started this. My plan is to post photos of her as she grows up to be a smart, wounderful dog!
We brought Jazzy home with us on Saturday July 10, 2010. Jazzy is a mutt who was taken to the humane society as a stray, and she found a home in 2 days. The people at Oregon Humane Society(OHS) said she was a Gordon Setter mix. We can see a small amount of Lab in her and a little bit of Border Collie as well. She is mostly black with a white patch down her chest, and just a hint of brown on her paws. And she is just as sweet as she looks! Jazzy is so calm!! She has not barked once! Accept for when she is in her crate. But she is a 4 month old puppy, whats to be expected!?
The first night was hard. I was not here to experience it, due to proir plans, but I was told in detail. All night the poor dog vommited obsesivle most likely due to jitters. It hit everything in the poor dogs crate. So, she was moved into Sheridans room where she continued to projectile vommit. After about 3 hours of that, she finally calmed down, Jazzy began to bark. Sheridan slept throught it all. Jazzy finally calmed down enough to go to sleep. So, the first night was hard, but everyone got more sleep the next night. But at least we can say we had a very different first night excperience!
Not much more has happened to or with Jazzy. Though I have already taught her how to sit, laydown, and almost shake. Her most needed, almost fully taught trick, "Go Outside". Potty Training. Better out there than in here!!
